Conventionally Speaking

The New York Comic-Con is coming up this weekend. Yours truly will be there, alas, with a sad extra badge, for my General Counsel has declined the opportunity to spend three hot, sweaty days packed into Legionnaire’s Disease Central, breathing the recycled air of thousands of aggressive fanboys. She’s obviously insane.

I’d like to take this opportunity to talk about the Big Apple Con. There has been some hating on the BAC happening since the announcement of NYCC. I live by the phrase “no one beats up my little brother but me.” So, yeah, the basement of St. Peter’s is hot and horrible and dark and oppressively hard to breathe in, but you know, the flip side is that all the creators are right there, no matter where you turn. Probably not so much fun for them, but if you’re a fan, it’s amazing! So, yeah, you elite fans can hate all you want, but you loved it, too, once, and I hope it keeps going, even if NYCC takes off.

On a non-comics related note, are you all watching the Olympics? Does anyone else think that speed skater Ahn Hyun-soo looks like a Korean Harry Potter? Anyone?

  1. He’s certainly moody looking enough!
